American professional stock car racing driver, model, and advertising spokeswoman, Danica Patrick’s ex-husband is Paul Edward Hospenthal.
Danica is the most successful woman in the history of American open-wheel racing. In 2012, she competed in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and occasionally in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. She became the first female NASCAR driver to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole in 2013.
Patrick has been driving the No. 10 Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing in the Sprint Cup Series. She turned in the fastest qualifying lap since 1990 qualifying for the Daytona 500. Her eighth place in the 2013 Daytona 500 is the highest finish for a woman in the Daytona 500.
Looking back at her history, Danica started in kart racing and later raced in Formula Ford in the United Kingdom before returning to the United States and moving up to IndyCars. In both 2005 Indianapolis 500 and the 2005 IndyCar Series season, she was named the Rookie of the Year.
Danica and Paul’s Journey
Paul is 16 years older than Danica. He was born on June 5, 1965 in Tacoma, WA. He graduated form the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma where he was a track star in the 400 meters race. Paul also received a Fellowship in Sports Medicine from Western Michigan University. He is also a writer for Golf magazine and he has been featured in Sports Illustrated Magazine.
These two first met when Paul was working as Danica’s physical therapist. He helped her recover from her injury due to yoga. She hurt her hip during an exercise during the yoga class.
They fell in love with each other and after dating for some time, got engaged on the Thanksgiving of 2004. The couple rang the wedding bells on November 19, 2005. Danica converted to Roman Catholicism for Hospenthal following their nuptials. Age or Religion didn’t seem to much of a big deal for both of them.
For the time period they were together, these two not only shared their personal lives but were business partners in many ventures too.
After being in the marriage for nearly 7 years, Danica and Paul decided to part their ways. It must have been difficult for both of them and the reason for their divorce is unknown to public.
Patrick filed the documents in Arizona courts in which she said that their marriage was irretrievably broken. There were already rumors of them being separated a couple of months before they officially announced it.
The divorce between the two was mutual and none of them seek for any kind of alimony. Danica wrote on her Facebook, “I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage. This isn’t easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that’s how we will remain moving forward.”
Paul and Danica now have been living their life separately. We wish both of them good luck in life and hope that they have moved on quite well.
